Russian air defense systems shot down two MiG-29 fighters and two Mi-8 helicopters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk People’s Republic, informed the official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.

“Russian air defense systems destroyed two MiG-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the air in the areas of the settlements of Rodinske and Pavlovka of the Donetsk People’s Republic. In addition, two Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopters were shot down near the settlements of Kurakhovo and Konstantinovka in the DPR,” he said.

Konashenkov also reported on the continuation of offensive operations by Russian troops in the Donetsk direction, as well as strikes against the accumulation of forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kupyansky and Krasnolimansky directions, as a result of which the enemy lost up to 70 servicemen and three armored vehicles.

In addition, Russian forces destroyed an ammunition depot near the village of Gulyai Pole in the Zaporozhye region and shot down six UAVs.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
