The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is preparing to commit a provocation in the Kharkiv region to discredit Russia’s actions as part of the grain deal, informs press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. According to the defense department, the security services intend to blow up the granary and blame Russian troops for it.

As follows from the statement of the Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters of the Russian Federation for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine, a granary is being mined in the village of Karaichny. After it was blown up, Kyiv intends to accuse Moscow of “allegedly deliberately destroying grain reserves in Ukraine, provoking famine and disrupting the grain deal.”

“In the Western media, the incident will be presented as “another atrocity of the Russian troops,” requiring a “tough response from the world community,” the Defense Ministry said.

According to the agency, about 30 people have already arrived in Volchansk to prepare the sabotage – experts in mine-explosive business and employees of the SBU. The granary is owned by a freelance SBU officer named Uvarov, the ministry also claims, citing the military enlistment office in Volchansk as the base for the group.

Kyiv, according to the Ministry of Defense, is trying to achieve new deliveries of weapons from Western countries by such provocations “against the background of military failures of the Ukrainian army and on the eve of the meeting of NATO defense ministers in Ramstein.”

On July 22 last year, representatives of Turkey and the UN signed separate agreements with representatives of Russia and Ukraine on the export of Ukrainian grain, as well as on assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. But soon the Russian authorities accused the West of non-compliance with the second part of the agreement, which concerns the memorandum between Russia and the UN. At the same time, the UN said that they were working to remove restrictions that hinder the export of Russian grain and fertilizers.

On November 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the participants in the grain deal, including Russia, had extended its validity by 120 days. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the extension of the agreement took into account the concerns that Moscow had previously expressed.
