The Ministry of Culture announced the readiness of the restoration center named after Grabar to receive the “Trinity”

The All-Russian Artistic Research and Restoration Center named after Grabar has already prepared a special room with climate control for the Trinity icon by Andrei Rublev. This was announced by the Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova after a meeting with the director of the center Dmitry Sergeev.

According to the minister, decisions on the restoration of the icon will be made after an assessment by experts at an expanded restoration council. It is alleged that specialists from the center, as well as representatives of “other leading institutions” will be involved in the conservation and restoration work.

“A special room was prepared for the icon with climate control, a gas fire extinguishing system, technical security equipment, including video surveillance,” Ms. Lyubimova wrote in Telegram.

On May 15, the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) announced that Vladimir Putin had decided to return the Trinity icon to her. May 16 Patriarch Kirill asked the presidential administration to agree on the transfer of the icon to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior for the celebration of the Trinity on June 4. Commission of Experts asked Ministry of Culture to prevent the destruction of the Trinity. Office reportedthat the icon from the temple will be sent for restoration, which can take up to a year.
