In 2024, the Ministry of Construction of the Novosibirsk Region intends to attract about 2 thousand workers from North Korea to the industry. This was done due to the shortage of personnel that has arisen in the region, which today is estimated at 4.5–5 thousand people, Alexey Kolmakov, Minister of Construction of the Novosibirsk Region, told reporters at a press conference on Thursday.
“The Russian Ministry is exploring the possibility of attracting students and specialists from North Korea. We asked to bring about 2 thousand people to our territory, the application has already been submitted,” the official commented.
According to Alexey Kolmakov, the shortage of personnel in the region is due to the large volume of construction in the region. As the department notes, a record volume of housing construction is expected in the Novosibirsk region in 2023; to date, more than 2.6 million square meters have been commissioned. m of housing, the plan for the year was 2.05 million sq. m. m. In 2024, it is planned to build 2.1 million sq. m. m. The Minister believes that this figure will also be exceeded.
