The Ministry of Agriculture proposed to extend the ban on the export of rapeseed from the Russian Federation until August 31

The Ministry of Agriculture has prepared bill, providing for a ban on the export of rapeseed from Russia from March 1 to August 31, 2024. There is currently a ban on the export of seeds until February 29 of this year.

On January 30, the government introduced quotas for the import of certain types of seeds from unfriendly countries in the amount of 33.1 thousand tons. until the end of 2024. Quotas are set for seeds of potatoes, wheat, rye, barley, corn, soybeans, sunflowers and sugar beets.

Quotas for the export of sunflower oil and meal, as well as a ban on the export of sunflower seeds and rapeseed, were introduced in March 2022. The Ministry of Agriculture explained that this measure will eliminate the possibility of shortages and a sharp increase in the cost of raw materials in Russia against the backdrop of increasing demand for Russian products. The ban was initially introduced until the end of 2022, but was then extended until the end of 2023.
