In 2022, the damage to the Russian agro-industrial complex (AIC) from African swine fever (ASF) and avian influenza amounted to 3 billion rubles. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dmitry Patrushev at the final meeting of the colleague of the ministry. According to him, the damage from especially dangerous animal diseases in the agro-industrial complex remains very significant.

“These are direct losses of our agro-industrial complex, and as a result, they affect the final prices for products,” leads words of the minister “Interfax”.

Against this background, Patrushev called on the heads of regions to constantly keep this issue under control on the ground, interacting with the Ministry of Agriculture, Rosselkhoznadzor and regional veterinary services. According to the minister, everything necessary has been done at the federal level. Patrushev said that “significant funds” are allocated every year for the purchase of vaccines and diagnostics, which are brought to the regions for free. In 2023, their volume amounted to 3.7 billion rubles, the minister added.

In the Kyzyl region of Tuva on May 18 introduced quarantine due to a case of anthrax infection in cattle. “The causative agent of anthrax was detected in a cow in the personal subsidiary plot of a local resident,” the authorities specified.
