Potato producers in August reduced prices by 23.5% compared to August last year, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
The agency compared the cost of potatoes as of August 9.
“For butter and sunflower oil, they fell over the year by 1.8% and 13.8%, respectively,” – told in the press service (quote from TASS).
Salt has become more expensive by 3.5%, but since the beginning of 2023, its price has decreased by 0.2%. The Ministry of Agriculture added that a decrease in meat prices is expected in the autumn.
At the ministry at the end of July reportedthat this year they are implementing a new federal project to stimulate the production of potatoes and vegetables. Its funding for 2023 amounted to 5 billion rubles. Support will be directed to 76 regions. In this case, the subjects will advance funds for the recipients.
Annual inflation in July amounted to 4.3% after 3.25% in June, Rosstat reported earlier. On a monthly basis, prices rose by 0.63%. As noted by the statistical office, the rise in the cost of food products is largely due to the increase in prices for fruits and vegetables (by 1.77% after a decrease of 2.35% in June).
