Prices for potatoes from Russian producers fell by 23.5% over the year. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture. Earlier, the RIA Novosti agency, based on Rosstat data, calculated that the average cost of a dinner of meatballs and mashed potatoes in July was 254.54 rubles. This is the highest figure since June 2022.

“According to the data of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, as of August 9, producer prices for potatoes are 23.5% lower than on the same date last year,” the Ministry of Agriculture said. The ministry also noted that prices for butter and sunflower oil fell by 1.8% and 13.8% over the year.

At the same time, the price of salt and meat has noticeably risen. Salt prices, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, rose by 3.5%. However, compared to January this year, there is a slight decrease of 0.2%. “As for the cost of meat, now there is a traditional seasonal increase, typical for the summer period. Already in September, the market is expected to reduce prices, which is confirmed by the main producers of meat and meat products,” the ministry said.

By data experts from the HSE Development Center, the weakening of the ruble against the dollar and the euro by about 30% compared to the beginning of the year will add 1.5-3% to inflation. According to experts interviewed by Kommersant, inflation will rise to 6% by the end of this year.
