The Minin Choir invites you to the concert “Offering to A. S. Pushkin”

The concert of the Moscow State Academic Chamber Choir (Minin Choir) will be the central event of the Memorial Day of A. S. Pushkin at the State A. S. Pushkin Museum in Moscow. The event will take place on February 10, 2023 in the Atrium of the main museum building on Prechistenka, 12/2.
By tradition, on the Day of the Poet’s Remembrance, exhibitions, concerts, art events dedicated to the genius of Russian literature are held in all branches of the museum. Entrance to them is free.
The concert “Offering to A. S. Pushkin” will begin at 14.45; it was at this time on February 10 (January 29, old style), 1837, that the poet’s heart stopped beating. Following a minute of silence, Sergei Shargunov, a Russian writer, TV presenter and public figure, will speak about Pushkin. The poet’s poems will be performed by the outstanding Russian actor, director, theater teacher, People’s Artist of Russia Avangard Leontiev.
The program of the concert forms a kind of three-part form. The extreme parts are fragments of the famous Concerto for Choir “Pushkin’s Wreath” by Georgy Sviridov. Written in 1979 for the Moscow State Academic Chamber Choir and its founder, the first artistic director (now president), People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Minin, this work is one of the culminations of Pushkin’s musical studies: it presents the Word of the Poet in the radiance of beauty and the charm of simplicity. In total, 8 out of 10 numbers will be performed – just those that were written for the choir without accompaniment: “Winter Morning”, “Kolechushko, Heart”, “Mary”, “They Beat the Dawn”, “Echo”, “Natasha”, “Arise , timid … “,” Chirring, white-sided “.
The middle section of the program is romances by Russian composers to poems by A. S. Pushkin. Compositions by A. Verstovsky, M. Glinka, B. Sheremetev, N. Rimsky-Korsakov, C. Cui, S. Rachmaninov will be heard. Among the works performed are such masterpieces as “I remember a wonderful moment …” by Glinka, “On the hills of Georgia …” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, “Do not sing, beauty …” by S. Rachmaninov.
Soloists of the Minin Choir (in order of appearance in the concert): Margarita Petukhova, Ivan Shcherbatykh, Tatyana Zemlyanaya, Margarita Ozhereleva, Yuri Belyaev, Maria Mertseva, Andrey Sergeev, Ksenia Neyla, Alina Sushkina, Veronika Pogrebnaya-Lyalikova, Olga Fedorishchenko, Evgenia Sorokina. Piano part – Elena Ilyina.
