In Israel, at a meeting of the war cabinet dedicated to the conduct of military operations in the Gaza Strip, a proposal by Mossad head David Barnea on possible negotiations with Hamas in Qatar was discussed. According to the Reshet-13 TV channel, it was planned that Barnea and the head of the search headquarters for the abducted persons, Nitzan Alon, would go to Doha.
However, members of the narrow war cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, did not approve of the proposed trip.
The TV channel’s information caused outrage among relatives of the kidnapped Israelis. The Ynet website reported that the headquarters of the abducted families issued a statement noting that daily reports of the deaths of hostages in captivity have turned the lives of their loved ones into uncertainty. Relatives demand “immediate clarification from the government.” They also claim that Netanyahu ignored a request from the mothers of the abductees for a meeting, and Defense Minister Yoav Galant ignored a similar request from the fathers.
