The website of the Ministry of Defense no longer contains information about General Sergei Surovikin. Earlier, the media reported on his arrest and dismissal from the post of head of the Aerospace Forces (VKS). There has been no official information about his fate yet.
From section about the videoconferencing removed the entire tab “Management”. Data on the leaders of other military branches remained on the site. In addition, Mr. Surovikin is not mentioned on pagededicated to the commanders-in-chief of the armed forces of the Russian army.
August 22 RBC, citing sources informedthat Sergei Surovikin was relieved of his post as Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces. August 23 RIA Novosti source declaredthat General Viktor Afzalov was appointed Acting Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces.
4 September was published the first photo of Mr. Surovikin after the Wagner rebellion. Western media wrote about the interrogations and even the arrest of the general. At the same time, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov refused answer questions about the fate of the general.
