The crew of a Chinese Navy submarine that fell into a trap for American British ships in the Yellow Sea died, with a total of 55 sailors on board. About it reports the Daily Mail, citing a statement from British intelligence.

According to the publication, the incident occurred on the morning of August 21. “The submarine collided with a chain and anchor obstacle used by the Chinese Navy to catch US and allied submarines,” the material said.

As a result of the accident on the submarine, where the oxygen systems could have failed, 55 crew members, including 22 officers, were killed. It is believed that the ship could have been sunk in the waters of Shandong province.

However, China officially denied information about the death of the submarine, calling all media reports false.

The incident occurred on the Type 093 submarine, which entered service with the Chinese Navy 15 years ago. Up to 100 people can be on board at the same time. The submarine reaches 107 m in length and can reach speeds of up to 30 knots (about 56 km/h).
