The mayor of Ussuriysk, Yevgeny Korzh, said that his words about the indifference of the federal center about the situation in Primorye in connection with the typhoon were taken out of context. At a meeting with local residents, which was caught on video, the mayor said the phrase: “They (the federal authorities.— “b”) don’t give a shit about you and me.

This is a video of a conversation between the mayor of the city and local residents, published in mid-August. “All rivers are federal, they don’t let us go there at all. Federal, you understand. We write papers – fuck it. All property is federal. They don’t give a shit about you and me. So there is no need for each other. And now we have made such a traffic jam, everyone is standing and swearing. Guys, what are you doing?” said Yevgeny Korzh, and then asked the locals to “disperse”.

Two weeks later, a local portal journalist news.vl asked the mayor if he really said the phrase “they don’t give a shit about you and me.” “This phrase is taken out of context,” the mayor replied. He said that he visited the then flooded parts of the city by car – his attention was attracted by local residents who blocked traffic near the Pushkin Bridge with a truck. In a conversation with him, the Ussuri people said that the local authorities “are not doing anything.”

The mayor noted that “everyone helps us,” and if it were not for the federal structures, then Ussuriysk would have had a hard time. “Yuri Petrovich Trutnev personally keeps on … he always, all the floods, he always comes, helps, does, well, he has a lot to learn. And our governor Oleg Kozhemyako, everyone helps, there is no such thing. Everyone flew to us, as soon as the water began to flow, all the services were already there, regional, federal, municipal, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Defense, everything,” the mayor said.

At the same time, Yevgeny Korzh noted that regional rivers are federally owned, but they should be transferred to local authorities, and then to municipalities. He assured that the corresponding bill will be considered in the State Duma in September.

In August, typhoons “Hanun” and “Lan” came to Primorye. On August 25, a federal emergency was introduced in Primorye after the floods. On that day, due to the cyclone, about 70 thousand residents of Vladivostok were left without electricity. Water due to heavy rains flooded about 4.6 thousand residential buildings.

On August 15, at a meeting with Yevgeny Korzh, local residents began to complain about small compensation payments to flood victims. The authorities provided the victims with 10,000 to 100,000 rubles, and if a person lost their home, 150,000 rubles. “Do something for yourself for 150 thousand. What will you buy with them now? Were you in the store today?!” said one of the residents in the video. On August 24, Yury Trutnev, the permanent representative of the president in the Far Eastern Federal District, announced that he would go to Primorye next week to check on the progress of restoration work after the typhoon.
