Edition Euractiv reports that the authorities of the Czech spa town have received a stream of criticism from principled representatives of the local politicized public for the fact that in an online advertisement for spa services, the Russian-language text contained the phrase “Karlovy Vary understands you.” More, of course, does not contain, and the mayor justifies himself before the deputies and their assistants. The Czech News Agency intervened.
“The population of Russian origin in European countries is traditionally very strongly connected with their homeland and is generally not actively opposed to the war, and on the contrary, some Russians living in Europe organize events in support of the Russian regime and for the easing of sanctions,” they justify their reproaches and requirements for the mayor of local politics. As the publication notes, the authors criticizing the authorities of the resort directly point out that “Russians living in Europe do not share European values.”
The mayor, Andrea Pfeffer-Perklova, justifies herself as best she can, explaining that this advertisement, for example, is for Germans and other Europeans, for whom, it so happens, Russian is the main language of communication.
“This is not for Russia, but for people who live in Europe … and speak Russian,” the Czech news agency quoted the mayor as saying.
