Mayor of the city of Sayansk in the Irkutsk region Oleg Borovsky on August 2 in his Telegram channel announced his refusal to participate in the elections of deputies of the regional legislature “for personal reasons.” Mr. Borovsky headed the territorial group No. 16 from the United Russia party, the second number in which is the head of the Zalarinsky district, Vladimir Samoylovich.
“I notified the executive committee of the party, the governor’s office, and the regional policy department about my decision in advance. Didn’t receive any response. I see only an indirect reaction – they started to throw at me through the controlled Telegram channels, ”Mr. Borovsky commented to Kommersant.
Among the reasons that influenced his decision, the mayor of Sayansk called “a change in agreements between the party, mayors and the government”, as well as an unfair policy of distributing funds from the regional budget between the cities of the Angara region. In the latter, he accused the chairman of the regional government, Konstantin Zaitsev, who occupies the second line in the regional party list of United Russia after Governor Igor Kobzev. Mr. Borovsky believes that Konstantin Zaitsev, who is “prophesied to be the speaker of the Legislative Assembly”, should not receive this position.
