Rebels in Niger appoint new heads of regions

The President of the National Council for the Defense of the Fatherland, Brigadier General Abdurakhaman Tchiani, has appointed new governors of the regions of Niger. About it reported Nigerian Press Agency.
Brigadier Generals Ibrah Bulama, Iro Umaru, Ibrahim Bagadoma, Abdou Assuman Haruna became governors of Agadez, Doso, Diffou and Niamey regions respectively.
Senior Colonel Umaru Tawaye has been appointed Governor of Tahoua Region, Inspector General of Police Issoufou Mamane has been appointed Governor of Maradi Region, Lieutenant Colonel Maina Bucar of Tillabéri Region and Colonel Labo Issoufou of Zinder Region.
The agency also noted that these appointments come seven days after the coup d’état in Niger.
The military who carried out the coup d’état in Niger announced on the opening of air and land communications with Algeria, Burkina Faso, Libya, Mali and Chad. The borders have been closed since 26 July. On the same day, the rebels announced the removal from power of the President of Niger, Mohamed Bazum, and arrested him.
