The mayor of Novokuznetsk, Sergey Kuznetsov, said that from September 16, a new way of dealing with free riders in public transport will be implemented in the city. According to him, citizens caught on non-payment of fares will be dropped off and sent to a “hare hearse” at the Gazelle base.
“I perceive non-payment of fare as theft” – explained Gazeta.ru official.
He noted that he was outraged by the unwillingness of the townspeople to pay for travel, although it is only 25-30 rubles.
In an interview with local television, Kuznetsov said the “hare hearse” would be painted black, have red stripes, and have bunny ears painted on. Such a “Gazelle” will drive up to stops where inspectors will get into the transport and determine the availability of tickets for passengers, and stowaways will be sent to the “hearse”. The mayor explained this by caring about people: in order for these “animals,” or rather “hares” not to freeze in the rain, “it is necessary to deal with them warmly, draw up protocols.”
