Due to the collapse of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, problems may arise with the supply of Dnieper water to the Crimea, said the head of the administration of Novaya Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontiev. He claims that there is no threat of stopping the supply of water through the North Crimean Canal (NCC).
“The only threat (as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.— “b”) at the moment – these are problems with the supply of water to the Crimea,” Mr. Leontiev told reporters (quoted by RIA Novosti).
He later clarified that the head station of the SKK is located above the dam. “There is no threat of dehydration of the SCC, otherwise the Crimeans became agitated,” assured Vladimir Leontiev.
Today, June 6, he declaredthat in the Kherson region the upper part of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was destroyed. According to him, it happened because of the shelling. An evacuation has been announced in the territory controlled by Ukraine. According to emergency services, flooding threatens 80 settlements. At the same time, the Russian authorities see no need to evacuate Novaya Kakhovka.
