The mayor of Lviv urged the townspeople to stock up on firewood for the winter

Mayor Andriy Sadovoy urged Lviv residents to prepare for a hard winter. His words are quoted on Wednesday, August 17, by the Ukrainian edition of Strana. Sadovoy claims that the city authorities are buying up potbelly stoves, and the residents themselves have been advised to stock up on electric kettles, battery-powered electrical appliances and dry alcohol in case the gas is turned off.

“Citizens should prepare for a situation that is hard to imagine,” said the mayor of Lviv. “Nobody canceled firewood.”

Earlier, Sadovoy said that the Russian language and culture would be thrown out of state and public life for 50 years. He stressed that the Russian language is the language of the “occupier”, and everything connected with Russia should be forgotten for half a century. “This is a country that is like Nazis to me today,” the Lviv mayor added. “You can say that there are artists there, there are creative intelligentsia, but they all work for the regime.” Andrey Sadovoy also pointed out that immigrants from the Russian-speaking regions of Ukraine are obliged to switch to the Ukrainian language in Lviv.

On the eve of the head of the “Operator of the gas transmission system of Ukraine” Serhiy Makogon said that Ukraine can completely refuse to import gas, since the country has the ability to extract and produce the so-called biogas. The expert claims that the Ukrainian state is able to increase its production to 0.5 billion cubic meters annually by 2024, that is, in two years.

Prior to this, Aleksey Ryabchin, adviser to the director of Naftogaz of Ukraine, noted that the country was ready to completely abandon gas purchases in European countries due to the austerity regime.
