The mayor of Belgorod, Valentin Demidov, denied reports of mining the city streets with Lepestok mines. He called this information fake and said that security control has been strengthened in the city.
“Information is being spread on social networks about the mining of the streets of Belgorod with Lepestki. It’s fake!” — Valentin Demidov wrote in Telegram channel.
“In Belgorod, security control has been strengthened on all streets and public areas. Law enforcement officers are on duty around the clock,” he added. According to the governor, the duty service did not receive any reports of suspicious objects found in the city.
Residents of territories bordering Ukraine often step on mines. In May of this year, a resident of the Belgorod region was mowing grass in a ravine and arrived to the Lepestok mine: the explosion tore off his foot.
