Mayor of Essentuki Nekristov resigned of his own free will
The head of the resort city of Essentuki, Alexander Nekristov, resigned at his own request, the press service of the city administration reports. Instead, First Deputy Head Vladimir Krutnikov will temporarily become acting head.
The decision to terminate Nekristov’s powers as head early, according to the administration, was made on Tuesday at an extraordinary meeting of the City Duma.
The ex-mayor addressed the townspeople in his Telegram channel. “Today is my last day as mayor,” he wrote. “I remain an Essentu resident both by registration and by heart.”
Nekristov has served as head of the administration since 2015.
Essentuki is the largest drinking and balneological resort in Russia. Local springs are international standards for healing salt-alkaline waters.
