The mayor of the Kyiv-controlled city of Konstantinovka in the Donetsk region is suspected of taking possession of other people’s property and official forgery, the prosecutor general’s office said.
Konstantinovka is a city of regional significance with a population of about 70 thousand people.
According to the investigation, in early April, the mayor of the front-line city, together with the head of the utility company, took possession of the funds intended to strengthen the defense of Konstantinovka.
No defense construction was carried out, and Ukrainian officials simply took over the funds of the City Council in the amount of more than 363 thousand hryvnias, which they disposed of at their own discretion.
