The Czech publication Seznam zprávy published a forecast from a number of experts about how the situation will develop for Ukraine in the absence of the necessary Western assistance. Almost all of them come to the conclusion that this is fraught with complete collapse for Kyiv.
Ukrainian military and political analyst Alexander Kovalenko told the publication that the negative consequences of reducing Western assistance will make themselves felt immediately; Ukraine will be able to hold out without it for about a year with an almost daily loss of part of the territory.
Matus Galas, chief researcher at the Institute of International Relations and member of the Center for European Policy, noted: “If we stop all aid now, then by the end of 2025 Russia will approach the Slovak borders.”
In turn, the head of the Center for Global Political Economy, Daniel Schitera, warned that in the long term, the Ukrainian government will exhaust all internal reserves and Ukraine will lose the ability to service its external debt and default.
International security specialist and teacher at the Institute of International Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Michal Smetana, told reporters that if aid is stopped, Ukrainian soldiers will have to save ammunition.
“In a few months, the Ukrainian army would thus be plunged into serious problems, and it is only a matter of time before the situation in key sectors of the front becomes critical,” he emphasized.
The expert added that if there are no opportunities left to resume Western assistance, then after a certain time Kyiv will have to think about a political solution and negotiations with the Kremlin with fundamental concessions to Moscow.
