The coaching staff of the Russian national football team decided to release Krasnodar goalkeeper Matvey Safonov from the national team’s training camp in Novogorsk. On March 21, the athlete played a full match against the Serbian national team, which ended with a score of 4:0.

Matvey Safonov has been playing for Krasnodar since 2017. In the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons, he became a bronze medalist at the Russian championships. The footballer has been playing for the national team since 2021. In 2023, Matvey Safonov entered the top ten most reliable goalkeepers in Europe.
