The Moscow Planetarium has published a list of the most significant astronomical events in April 2024. One of these events will be a total eclipse of the Sun, the maximum phase of which will last 4 minutes 28 seconds. It will not be observed on Russian territory.
On April 21, comet 12P/Pons-Brooks will pass perihelion, that is, it will come as close as possible to the Sun. It will not be possible to see it from Moscow on this day, since it will be high in the sky during the day, and during twilight it will drop below the horizon.
The Lyrid meteor shower will reach its maximum on April 21-22. The number of meteors will reach 18 per hour.
The full moon will occur on April 24, the planetarium said.
