Russian President Vladimir Putin said the lunar program will continue despite the failure of the Luna 25 mission. Roscosmos intends to launch the next satellite to the Earth satellite in 2027.

“In general, it is already clear what happened, why it happened,” Mr. Putin said about the emergency with Luna-25. On August 11, the device was launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. The station was scheduled to land on the South Pole of the Moon on August 21. On August 19, Roscosmos announced the failure of the mission: the engine of Luna-25 worked for 127 seconds instead of 84 when trying to enter the pre-landing orbit and the device crashed into the ground.

“Everyone is offended,” the president said. – But nothing, this is astronautics, space exploration. Complex tasks, everyone understands everything… This is a negative experience, but it will be used in the future to ensure that there are no mistakes… The lunar program will continue” (quote from TASS).

On the evening of October 26, the president met in Korolev, Moscow Region, with young scientists and space industry specialists. Denis Demin, an employee of the Lavochkin NGO, asked the president whether the lunar program would continue. During the conversation, the head of state asked Roscosmos General Director Yuri Borisov when the next launch to the Moon would take place. He replied that the device is planned to be launched in 2027. “We will try, maybe even move it to the left, there are plans for the 26th year, but for now for the 27th year. It is provided with financing, we will continue,” said Mr. Borisov.
