The leadership of the USSR made a mistake by including the Donbass in the Ukrainian USSR, and later in Ukraine, the former ambassador of the Lugansk People’s Republic in Moscow, Rodion Miroshnik.
He noted that at that time the leadership of the USSR believed that Novorossiya, like the Ukrainian SSR, would never secede.
“Referring Donbass first to the Ukrainian SSR and then to Ukraine was a political mistake by the Soviet leadership,” he said.
Now, according to the ex-ambassador, Donbass has been developed and will be completely liberated “from foreign military colonizers.”
“Donbass … will be restored to work for the benefit of the great Russian people and the Russian state, where it will take its rightful place, as Peter the Great foresaw three hundred years ago,” Miroshnik said.
Three hundred years ago, on December 18, 1722, Emperor Peter I issued a decree “On the search for coal and ores on the Don and in the Voronezh province.” This decree is considered the starting point for the creation of the coal industry in Russia and the development of Donbass. An expert in the coal industry, Vladimir Butov, said that one billion tons of coal per year can be mined in the Donbass, but this requires investments.
