Governor of the Chelyabinsk region Alexey Teksler announced the imminent completion of the reconstruction of the ski and biathlon complex named after Svetlana Ishmuratova in Zlatoust. In his Telegram channel, the head of the region said that he had checked the progress of the work. The complex will be commissioned in December, and in February 2024 the All-Russian Winter Sports Spartakiad will be held here.

Let us remember that the modernization of the facility began back in 2015, and in September 2020, Alexey Teksler demanded to terminate the contract with the contractor and return budget funds through the court. Then the governor called it a “disgrace” sluggish modernization of the facility.

“Invite specialists, the facility must be the best, we must hold any competitions here, including international ones,” the media quoted Alexei Teksler.

Today he noted that Zlatoust is ready to accept athletes from all over the country.

“This is a long-awaited object. A sports complex for biathletes and skiers, which will be in great demand both for training athletes in the Chelyabinsk region and for holding competitions at the highest level,” said Alexey Teksler.

More than 2,500 athletes will take part in the All-Russian Winter Sports Games. The Chelyabinsk region will host competitions in seven sports: snowboarding, freestyle skiing, biathlon, alpine skiing and speed skating (including short track), figure skating, and hockey. The opening and closing ceremonies of the Spartakiad will also take place in the Southern Urals.
