The composition of Vladimir Putin’s proxies for the 2024 elections will be updated by almost 40% compared to the 2018 list, reports RBC with reference to sources. According to them, for the first time the list will include military officers. Among them will be Komsomolskaya Pravda correspondent Alexander Kots, and the candidacies of Alexander Sladkov (VGTRK) and Semyon Pegov (founder of WarGonzo) are also being considered.
According to RBC, the list of trusted persons will be supplemented by representatives of the state fund “Defenders of the Fatherland” and the Committee of Families of Soldiers of the Fatherland, as well as representatives of the volunteer movement and some of the participants in the initiative group for the nomination of Mr. Putin.
By tradition, cultural figures will be among the trustees. Among them: Nikita Mikhalkov, Mikhail Boyarsky and Sergei Bezrukov, general director of the Mariinsky and Bolshoi theaters Valery Gergiev, rector of the Theater Institute. Shchukina Evgeny Knyazev, General Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, singer Shaman, artistic director and chief conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra “New Russia” Yuri Bashmet, lists the publication.
A meeting of the expanded members of the initiative group will take place on Saturday, December 16, in Zaryadye Park. By law, a presidential candidate can appoint up to 600 proxies. In the 2018 elections, Vladimir Putin had 476 proxies.
December 8 Mr. Putin reported about the decision to run for president in 2024. If he wins, this will be his fifth term at the head of state. He convincedthat “there was no other way” to do it. Kremlin assertsthat his decision to announce participation in the elections was spontaneous. For the first time, presidential elections will last three days – from March 15 to 17.
