The cruise ship Astoria Grande, which arrived from Russia, left the port of Batumi in Georgia amid protests due to the appearance of the Russians.
According to batumelebi.ge, the protesters who gathered in the port motivated their actions by the fact that, according to them, there are supporters of military operations in Ukraine and independence of Abkhazia from Georgia on board the ship.
During the protests, local law enforcement authorities detained 23 people, there was no information about the victims as a result of the protests.
First Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia Levan Davitashvili previously commented on the events in Batumi, where representatives of the radical opposition threw eggs and plastic bottles on several buses and minibuses with Russian tourists. The politician called these actions irresponsible and destructive, saying that they will not be supported by the majority of the population of Georgia.
At the same time, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili stated that proud of his peoplewho “peacefully protested the latest Russian provocation.”
