The LDPR party has submitted a bill to the State Duma that will create the term “children of special operations” and allow them to receive support measures. Document published on the Legislative Support System portal.
“Measures of social support for children of a special operation are determined by decrees of the President of the Russian Federation, decrees of the government of the Russian Federation, other federal laws and other regulatory legal acts, laws and other regulatory legal acts of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation,” the text of the document says.
On February 16, the head of the faction, Leonid Slutsky, announced that the party plans to introduce a new status of “children of the SVO” and explained that it will affect citizens of the Russian Federation, whose childhood “up to 18 years old was spent in one of the regions of the special operation.”
According to Slutsky, the bill is still a framework, but it is planned to expand it in the future – it can be introduced both at the federal level by the government of the Russian Federation and by regional authorities. It is also possible to increase the territorial scope of such a status – in addition to the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, border areas, such as the Belgorod and Kursk regions, which have been shelled by the Ukrainian army since the beginning of the military operation, will be able to receive benefits.
February 15, Deputy Head of the Department of the Ministry of Education and Science for State Policy in the Sphere of Higher Education Aleksey Levchenko informedthat additional budget places will be allocated for applicants from the annexed territories. At the same time, the total number of such places decreased by almost 30,000 compared to 2022.
On February 16, the Russian State Social University (RSSU) became the first university that allowed the children of the mobilized not to pay for education and living in a hostel. The press service explained that the benefit applies to bachelor’s, master’s and specialist’s programs, as well as to students of the RSSU college.
