The leadership of the “Movement of the First” does not consider renaming to “Pioneer”

The Russian movement of children and youth “Movement of the First” does not intend to change its name to “Pioneer”, as it is irrelevant, said the chairman of the board of the movement Grigory Gurov. The proposal to change the name was made by President Vladimir Putin.

“The guys unanimously said that there is no relevance, since they had just chosen the name “Movement of the First” at the congress and would like to continue developing in the logic in which the movement is now developing … They simply do not understand the relevance of the issue and say that we have created movement, and we named it, so we would like to continue working like this,” Mr. Gurov explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.

April 19, Mr. Putin at a meeting with members of the government offered think of a name for the children and youth movement. According to him, the old name “pioneer” reflects the essence and has no political overtones. In response, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova reminded the president that the name was chosen by the children themselves. Vladimir Putin said that they should be consulted. In the Kremlin considerthat the pioneers will not go anywhere from the history of Russia.
