A group of deputies from the LDPR has developed a bill introducing an additional payment to pensions up to twice the subsistence minimum for over 30 years of service, TASS reports with reference to the draft. The document will be sent to the government for conclusion.

The explanatory note states that citizens who “have made a significant labor contribution to the social and economic development of the country in the form of more than 30 years of insurance experience should have the opportunity to provide themselves with a decent life.” The rules for the additional payment and the procedure for revising its size and indexation will have to be established by the Ministry of Labor.

For 2024, the cost of living for pensioners in the Russian Federation as a whole is set at 13,290 rubles. The double amount of this payment will be more than 26 thousand rubles. “We are for our pensioners to have the opportunity not just to live out their old age, but to live: to eat well, take care of their health, and travel,” said LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky.

At the end of 2023, the number of pensioners in Russia decreased to 41.1 million. The average amount of payments for all categories of pensioners increased by 7.6%, to 20.87 thousand rubles. Ministry of Labor reportedthat in 2024 social pensions in the Russian Federation will be indexed by 7.5%.
