On October 3, the police demanded that a criminal case be opened against blogger and TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak, who is accused of spreading fake news about government. The media reports that we are talking about fakes in relation to “state funding of festivals.” Lawyer Vasily Vorobyov is convinced that Sobchak does not face criminal liability, since her statements do not fall under the article on fakes about the RF Armed Forces.
In conversation with Izvestia Vorobyov explained that the article under which they want to accuse Sobchak, namely 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, implies the public dissemination of deliberately false information containing data about the RF Armed Forces. At the same time, as the lawyer noted, the blogger’s statements concerned exclusively issues of corruption.
According to Vorobyov, Sobchak’s statements are not relevant to this article, and it cannot be prosecuted for such actions, since it provides for criminal liability only for fakes about the army.
The lawyer concluded that the case will not be initiated or it will be terminated due to the lack of corpus delicti with a probability of 99%.
