From July of this year to August, the launch of the first mission to the moon in the modern history of Russia has been postponed, Interfax reports with reference to Roscosmos.
There, the agency explained that additional checks of ground controls are needed.
Measures will be taken to “ensure the stable operation of ground controls at the stages of carrying out corrections and landing on the lunar surface,” the press service of the state corporation said.
They also noted that for the first time in the history of astronautics, the landing will take place in difficult conditions in the vicinity of the South Pole of the Earth satellite. Statistical modeling of a soft landing on the lunar surface is now being completed. The experience of Russia and other countries that have previously landed on the lunar surface, as the state corporation said, “shows that this stage, given the complexity of the tasks of ballistic and navigation support for the flight of a spacecraft, is critical for the success of the entire mission as a whole.”
Earlier, Roskosmos reported that the launch of the Luna-25 station would take place in July 2023 from the Vostochny cosmodrome.
The mission assumes that first a descent vehicle will be launched to the Moon, and a year later, an orbiter.
