The Kremlin spoke about Ukrainian saboteurs in the Belgorod region

The members of the sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who entered the territory of the Belgorod region on May 22, are Ukrainian militants, but it is premature to name their identities. This was announced by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

“These are Ukrainian militants, from Ukraine. There are many ethnic Russians living in Ukraine, but they are still Ukrainian militants. From this it is necessary to proceed. Our special departments will find out the identity of those who were involved in this,” he said.

Peskov also did not specify the number of members of the DRG. “I can’t give these figures. Our special services are doing this, finding out the identity, the number,” he said.

The Kremlin spokesman stressed that what happened in the Belgorod region causes deep concern. Peskov noted that the special operation would continue in order to “prevent such infiltrations in the future” and stop the activities of Ukrainian militants against Russia. At the same time, Peskov did not characterize the structures on the border of the Belgorod region, redirecting this issue to other departments.

May 22 to the territory of the Graivoronsky district of the Belgorod region penetrated sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The armed forces of the Russian Federation, together with the border service, the National Guard and the FSB, are taking the necessary measures to eliminate the enemy.

Due to the penetration of saboteurs in the Belgorod region introduced counter-terrorist operation. Individuals will be checked for identification documents, in case of their absence, citizens will be taken to the internal affairs bodies for identification. Perhaps “the removal of individuals from certain areas of the terrain and objects, as well as the towing of vehicles.” Today, May 23, Gladkov said that the cleansing of the territory from Ukrainian saboteurs continues.

Peskov previously stated that the penetration of Ukrainian saboteurs into the territory of the Belgorod region sent to minimize the political effect of the loss of the Armed Forces of Artemovsk. Now work is underway to squeeze out saboteurs from the territory of the Russian Federation and their destruction, Peskov added.

In the Belgorod region, a high (“yellow”) level of terrorist danger is indefinitely. Since October 19, 2022, by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the average level of response has been set in the region. The same regime operates in seven other regions – Crimea, Sevastopol, Krasnodar Territory, Kursk, Voronezh, Bryansk and Rostov regions.
