The Kremlin said that they do not follow the movements of Prigozhin

The Kremlin has neither the ability nor the desire to monitor the movements of the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the President of the Russian Federation.

At the briefing, journalists asked him where Prigozhin was now and whether Moscow was monitoring his movements.

“No, we do not follow his movements. We have neither the ability nor the desire to do this,” Peskov replied.

The Kremlin spokesman also confirmed plans to hold a meeting between the presidents of the Russian Federation and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, noting that there is no exact date yet. Peskov could not confirm Lukashenka’s words that Wagner would be discussed at the meeting, noting that he did not yet know what the agenda of these contacts would be.

The journalists also asked to comment on the statement of the Belarusian president that Wagner and Prigozhin may not arrive in Belarus, since this depends on the decisions of the Russian leadership.

“I will leave this without comment. I will return you then on June 24th. You also remember Alexander Grigoryevich’s rather detailed story, we also made statements. This is where it all remains relevant. I have nothing new to add on this topic yet,” Peskov replied.

When asked whether, in this case, Prigozhin’s non-departure to Belarus was a violation of the terms of the agreement to end the rebellion, Peskov refused to answer.

Earlier today Lukashenka toldthat Prigozhin is now not in Belarus. “As for Yevgeny Prigozhin, he is in St. Petersburg. Where is he this morning? Maybe he went to Moscow in the morning,” the president said. Lukashenka also commented on the whereabouts of PMC fighters: “As far as I am informed this morning, Wagner PMC fighters are in their camps. In permanent camps, where they were after the withdrawal from the front for recovery.

On June 27, Lukashenka said that Prigozhin had arrived in Belarus. At the same time, the president explained what he sees as the benefits of deploying the Wagner PMC in the country. “They will tell you about weapons: which worked well, which did not. And tactics, and weapons, and how to attack, how to defend. It’s priceless. This is what we need to take from the Wagnerites,” Lukashenka clarified.

On June 24, Lukashenka participated in negotiations with Prigozhin, who attempted a military revolt in Russia. As a result of negotiations in the evening of the same day, it became known that the fighters and equipment of PMCs would return to the rear camps, the criminal case against Prigozhin would be stopped, and he himself would “leave for Belarus”
