Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the proposal of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill to include in the national security strategy the concepts of “love for the fatherland, loyalty, duty, sacrifice” should be subject to “deep discussion”.
“The messages of the patriarch are always very deep. They cannot be the subject of a momentary reaction. They are subject to a very deep discussion before a position is formulated,” Peskov told Kommersant FM during a press call.
On October 25, Patriarch Kirill proposed to replace the concepts of “dignity” and “human rights” in Russia’s national security strategy with the concepts of “love for the fatherland, loyalty, duty and sacrifice.” According to the patriarch, these concepts should come immediately after the highest value – the “life” of a person, and “dignity and human rights” are borrowings from Western European philosophy.
