The Kremlin negatively assessed the ban on entry to Armenia for individual Russians

Moscow has a negative attitude towards the ban on entry into Armenia for a number of Russian media managers and deputies. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

“Frankly, we are negative about this. Armenia is our great friend, ally, strategic partner, and, of course, the level and nature of bilateral relations oblige us to protect our bilateral relations from such cases,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Peskov also expressed hope that such incidents would not arise in the future between Russia and Armenia.

March 8 Sputnik Armenia, citing sources reportedthat the Russian journalist and publisher, the founder of the News Media holding, Aram Gabrelyanov, was restricted from entering Armenia. According to the interlocutor, the journalist found out about this upon arrival in Yerevan, where he was told that he was on the list of “undesirable persons.” The reasons for this decision of the Armenian authorities are not specified.

In October 2022, entry into Armenia is also was banned Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and the RT TV channel. The reasons for this decision, she did not name, since when the ban is in effect, it was not specified.

Simonyan noted that State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin also cannot enter the country. According to the Russian MP, he received a corresponding letter from the Armenian parliament, which stated that his public statements were “damaging” to the republic.
