The issue of the return of the death penalty in Russia is not being discussed, said presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Formerly Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev suggested “overcome the moratorium” on the death penalty.

Andrey Klishas, head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation, commenting on Dmitry Medvedev’s statement, wrote in his Telegram channelthat a return to the death penalty under the current Constitution is impossible.
