“Yesterday there was information from Gazprom and the operator’s company. This is very disturbing news,” he said, noting that we are talking about “some destruction in the pipe of an unknown nature in the Danish zone.” As a result, the pressure dropped.
“This is an unprecedented situation that requires urgent investigation,” Peskov stressed, noting that the Kremlin is “extremely concerned” about the current situation, since we are talking about the energy security of Europe.
Asked if it could have been a targeted sabotage, the Kremlin spokesman said that “no option can now be ruled out.”
The day before, it became known about a sharp drop in pressure in both lines of Nord Stream and one line of the inactive Nord Stream-2. The Danish authorities reported a gas leak near the island of Bornholm. The representative of the pipeline operator Nord Stream 2 AG, Ulrich Lissek, specified that the pressure dropped from 105 to 7 bar due to a hole in the pipe.
