The Kremlin explained the termination of the case of armed rebellion

The press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov explained the termination of the criminal case on the armed rebellion “by the will of the President to prevent the development of events according to the worst scenario.”
“The president’s will was shown to prevent the development of events according to the worst scenario. There was a certain agreement in order to avoid this worst-case scenario, and there were certain promises from the president, certain guarantees from the president,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
He stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin, “when it concerns international affairs, it concerns domestic affairs”, always keeps his word. “Of course, everyone would like to hope that the words given from all sides are carried out unquestioningly,” Peskov said.
Today, June 27, the press service of the FSB of Russia announced the termination of the criminal case on the fact of an armed rebellion (under Article 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), which was initiated on June 23 against the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin.
This was preceded by an accusation by the head of the military company of the Ministry of Defense: according to his statements, the army attacked the rear camps of PMCs. The Ministry of Defense denied the information, calling the message a provocation. At the same time, Prigozhin said that the responsibility for the strike lay with the “military leadership” of the country, and promised to respond to the attack. Already on the morning of June 24, the Wagner occupied all military facilities in Rostov-on-Don, after which it advanced towards Moscow.
On the evening of June 24, after negotiations with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the founder of Wagner decided to stop the movement towards Moscow and return to the rear camps of PMCs. Peskov then explained that as a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached: the criminal case initiated against Prigozhin would be terminated, and he himself would “leave for Belarus.”
