Russian authorities do not agree with the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU), which awarded the Russian team third place instead of first in the team figure skating tournament at the Beijing Olympics. The ISU made this decision after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) yesterday disqualified Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva and stripped her of her medal.

“We do not agree with these decisions. Neither with the court’s decision, nor with the federation’s decision. We don’t accept them,” said the Kremlin representative.

Yesterday, January 29, CAS disqualified Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. At the same time, the court shifted the determination of the fate of the Beijing gold figure skater and the Russian team to the ISU and the International Olympic Committee. Today ISU decided award Russian figure skaters bronze instead of gold. Also union deprived Valiev a gold medal at the 2022 European Championship.
