The Kremlin commented on the supply of ammunition with depleted uranium to Kyiv

The UK will have to bear responsibility for the use of depleted uranium shells on the territory of Ukraine, commented the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov on the statement of the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Kingdom James Hippie on the supply of such ammunition to Kiev.

“The British must understand that they will have to bear responsibility for this. Those who will directly use such ammunition must understand that they will not only cause irreparable harm to themselves and their citizens, but they will also have to bear responsibility for this, ”he said.

Peskov recalled that Russia has repeatedly drawn attention to data on the results of the use of ammunition with depleted uranium, including an increase in the number of cancer cases.

On the eve of April 25, Hippie reported that the UK had already sent thousands of rounds for the Challenger 2 tanks, including those with depleted uranium, to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, London does not know where Kyiv will use these shells, since they are now under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

However, London is not obliged to assist in the elimination of the consequences of the use of depleted uranium projectiles after the end of the conflict, added Hippie, specifying that London is still “determined to help Ukraine emerge from the conflict as a safe, prosperous and free country.”

After that, at the Russian embassy declaredthat Western countries have prepared for Ukraine the role of a military training ground and a radioactive “burial ground”. The embassy also appealed to the British authorities with a call “not to flatter themselves with illusory hopes that by “transferring arrows” to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which now have toxic ammunition at their disposal, they will be able to get out of the water “dry”.

On March 20, British Deputy Secretary of Defense Annabelle Goldie announced that London put Kyiv shells with depleted uranium for tanks Challenger 2. She explained the supply of such ammunition by the fact that they are highly effective in defeating modern tanks and armored vehicles.

After that, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Russia would be forced to respond to the supply of shells with depleted uranium to Ukraine. According to him, this decision demonstrates the willingness of the West to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian, not in words but in deeds. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the supply of such shells a step towards a significant escalation of the situation.
