The Kremlin commented on the situation with downed balloons over the United States

The Kremlin did not comment on the situation with the downed Chinese balloons over the territory of the United States and recalled the hostility of NATO after the statement by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

“As for this story with balloons, which all of America is now living of its own free will or not of its own free will, well, it’s probably hardly necessary to blame anyone here, it’s better for the Americans to deal with this story themselves,” – he said.

The day before, February 13, Stoltenberg declaredthat the appearance of unidentified balloons over the US is a sign of how China and Russia are increasing intelligence against NATO countries.

Peskov, in turn, recalled that NATO is a hostile organization for Russia. According to him, she “confirms her hostility every day and <...> is trying with all his might to indicate as clearly as possible his involvement in the conflict over Ukraine. Peskov stressed that these actions by NATO require “certain precautions.”

The first hot air balloon owned by China was shot down February 4th. After that, Beijing strongly protested and urged to avoid further actions that escalate tensions and harm the interests of the PRC.

Another US military target was shot down on February 10 over Alaska near the Canadian border. The third unidentified object was amazed over Canada by order of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on February 12. The origin of the object was not specified.

On the night of February 13, an American F-15 knocked down the fourth facility in the Lake Huron area near the border with Canada. The Pentagon noted that the object flew over military infrastructure and posed a threat due to “potentially available intelligence capabilities.”
