The Kremlin commented on the results of the meeting on the situation in Dagestan

Strengthening measures to counter external interference and manipulation was discussed during the closed part of a meeting on the situation in Dagestan, which was held by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the evening of October 30. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“The meeting is closed. Judging by the composition of the participants, you yourself can guess that, of course, we will then talk about strengthening measures to counter that same outside interference, including information and external manipulations that can provoke the situation in our country, exploiting the theme of events in the Middle East. Have you seen the lineup of participants? These are the very people who are responsible for this work,” Peskov said.
On the evening of October 30, Putin held a large meeting dedicated to the issues of attempts by Western countries to influence the situation inside Russia through the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The meeting was attended by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin and others.
During the open part of the meeting, Putin emphasizedthat the events in Makhachkala were inspired from abroad, including with the participation of the Ukrainian special services and their Western patrons.
On October 29, a crowd of activists burst into Makhachkala airport as a flight from Israel arrived. The Investigative Committee for Dagestan opened a criminal case under Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (mass riots). According to the latest data, detained 83 protest participants. Airport operations were suspended until midday on October 30.
The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, said that the unrest was preceded by calls disseminated by pro-Ukrainian Telegram channels. He noted that the regional authorities have reliable data that the Morning Dagestan channel was broadcast from Ukraine.
