The Kremlin commented on the possibility of a New Year’s truce in Ukraine

The possibility of a truce during the New Year holidays is not considered, such proposals have not been received, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“No, no proposals have been received from anyone. Such a topic is not on the agenda, ”he said, answering a question about the possible reaction of the Kremlin to the ceasefire proposal from Kyiv.
The day before, on December 13, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during his address to the leaders of the G7 countries named “three steps” capable, in his opinion, of bringing peace in Ukraine closer. The first step is to provide modern tanks, shells, artillery, etc. Providing support for energy, financial and social stability in Ukraine next year is the second step, the third is to implement the “peace formula” that the Ukrainian president proposed earlier. In response to this, Peskov named Zelensky’s proposal “three steps” to the continuation of hostilities.
Peskov has repeatedly spoken about Ukraine’s unwillingness to negotiate with Russia. At the end of November, the Kremlin representative declaredthat negotiations between the two countries are now impossible, since they are denied by the Ukrainian side. Then Peskov added that in order to resume dialogue, Ukraine must not only repeal the law refusing to negotiate with Moscow, but also show political will. According to him, Kyiv must show readiness to discuss Russia’s demands, “which are well known.”
