The Kremlin called the discussion in the EU of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine dangerous

Discussion in the European Union on the topic of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine is extremely dangerous if we are talking about serious negotiations, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He stressed that such a step is applied with the consent of both parties.

Former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declaredthat the countries of the European Union are close to discussing the topic of sending to Ukraine “troops of a certain peacekeeping type” to Ukraine. Orban called such a discussion a previously uncrossable border.

In this regard, at a conference call, journalists asked Peskov to comment on how the Kremlin treats this.

“This is a very important statement, it was paid attention to. If we are already talking about some kind of serious negotiations, then this is a potentially extremely dangerous discussion. You know that such forces in world practice, as a rule, are used with the consent of both parties, in this case, this is potentially a very dangerous topic,” the spokesman said in this regard.

Earlier in March, Orban said about the high risk that soldiers of countries allied to Ukraine will also take part in hostilities. On February 16, the Polish edition of Onet announced the beginning of the formation in Ukraine of the first Polish special unit as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The next day, Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Pavel Yablonsky declined to comment on the publication, stressing that the Polish military was not taking part in the hostilities in Ukraine.

At the end of January, Orban said that Hungary was watching with concern the supply of arms to Ukraine and was afraid that some of the EU countries would send troops there. Also in Budapest supported China’s plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to the Ukrainian army. In particular, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Zakharova, warned that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia.
