The Kremlin called “taken from the ceiling” US figures on Russia’s losses in Ukraine

The figures that are given in Washington, speaking about the losses of the Russian Armed Forces during the special operation in Ukraine, are taken from the ceiling, since the United States does not have such data. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

Journalists asked Peskov to comment on the figures, which on May 1 were given by the representative of the US National Security Council, John Kirby. According to him, Russia’s losses since the beginning of 2023 amounted to 100,000 people killed and wounded.

“The numbers are taken from the ceiling absolutely. Washington is not in a position to give any correct figures. They do not have such data … We need to focus only on the figures that the Russian Ministry of Defense publishes in a timely manner, ”Peskov said.

For the last time, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu disclosed losses of Russian troops in September last year, estimating them at 5937 people. He then estimated the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the beginning of the special operation at 61,207 servicemen killed, another 49,368 wounded.

Today, May 2, Shoigu informedthat the Ukrainian side lost more than 15,000 troops in April. In March, the minister spoke about 11,000 killed soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
