The Kremlin called EU sanctions lists illogical and absurd

The new EU sanctions lists are formed illogically, and in some cases absurdly, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, told reporters.

“It is clear that they have a shortage of objects for sanctioning. This explains the illogical inclusion of certain individuals or legal entities,” he said.

Peskov drew attention to the fact that not only surgeon Leonid Roshal fell under the sanctions, but also, for example, Tatyana Moskalkova, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, who also deals with the exchange of prisoners of war.

“All this, of course, is absurd. It can be seen that it is not clear who is already being written down in the sanctions, people who are completely unrelated to some kind of sanctions topic, just to form some new lists, ”Peskov said.

According to him, these lists include accomplished people who “do not cause any discomfort.”

February 25 European Union put into effect the tenth package of sanctions against Russia, including restrictions on 87 individuals and 34 legal entities.
